    State Park Campgrounds

State park campgrounds offer the RVer a wide range of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Fishing, picnicking, boating and hiking are but a few of the possibilities available. State park campgrounds are popular destinations for RV campers because most offer at least an electrical hookup, and many have full water, electric, and dump facilities. Picnic tables, barbeque grills, and an open environment make these campgrounds an ideal RV getaway destination.

There is a wide range of facilities and prices associated with the various state park campgrounds. Utah for example has at least one state park with no fees, and no improved camping facilities. Colorado has state park campgrounds with full RV hookups available, and some sites with only electricity. Fees vary widely from state to state, and even campground to campground.

Length of stay is another factor to consider.  Some state parks throughout the country allow long term camping.

If you make reservations for RV camping in a state park, be sure to check out the rules about minimum duration of stays. Many state parks require multiple day stays (or at least paying for multiple days) during weekends or popular holiday camping weekends.

State Parks – More Than Just Camping

State parks offer a wide range of outdoor recreation. Some parks have horses for hire, swimming pools, tennis courts, and playgrounds. Hiking trails, fishing, rock climbing, rock hounding, geocaching and even golf are just some of the recreational activities available.

Some state parks permit long term RV stays while others restrict how long you can camp. RV camping facilities go from nothing to everything in State parks. Goosenecks state park in Utah has dispersed RV camping locations with no facilities and no charge, while Chatfieled State Park in Colorado has full RV hookup campsites available.
