Quartzsite RV camping Site Description

Depending on when you choose to visit Quartzsite, you will be greeted by remote desert campsites with no neighbors, or crammed full of RVs camping with neighbors everywhere. There are some areas to escape most of the herd, but you will have to explore a bit to get to the extreme reaches of these areas, and even then some of them are crowded to the edges such as the Hi Jolly area during peak camping season.

Crowded peak season will find generators running almost around the clock, people, vehicles, and dust can be unpleasant at times, but the
winter weather is just about perfect. Daytime temperatures range from mid 40’s to low 70’s, with temps in the mid 60’s most days. Nightime
temps can drop into the 20’s, but usually upper 30’s to low 40’s is the norm.

There are fire rings all over the desert, but you are not allowed to collect firewood legally. Bringing your own wood is a good idea, but you can purchase firewood in town. WWII found US troops training around the Quartzsite area, and along Plomosa Road, you can find this “Q” and the rest of the large letters spelling out Quartzsite that were used by WWII aviators as a navigation aid.
