Colorado RV Camping – Central City

Central City Location

The following map show the location of Central City. Free RV camping is permitted on public lands managed by the USDA Arapaho National Forest. Central City was once referred to as the “Richest Square Mile On Earth” because of the rich gold deposits that were found in the area. Today, Central City is experiencing growth from gambling and tourism. There is a commercial RV park in town, but the nearest RV supplies are available at Idaho Springs. Numerous outdoor recreation opportunities such as camping, hiking, and back road exploration are available.

Free Colorado RV Camping Location

Free RV camping is permitted just west of Central City and only 1/2 mile beyond the USDA Forest Service Columbine Campground. The campground itself offers water, trash, vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. There is a fee for campground use, and most campsites are reservable. Just beyond the campground on both sides of the road, numerous dispersed RV camping sites are located.
